MMIR Crisis in Colorado
Members of the MMIR Task Force of Colorado will present on the work across the state over the last several years that include all aspects of advocacy; from organizing searches to passing multiple pieces of legislation. This presentation will discuss the contributing factors of the MMIR crisis and why Native people experience the highest rates of violence of any other community. We will discuss both our successful and not so successful collaborations with law enforcement and the systems in place to track and respond to stolen Indigenous Relatives. Task Force members will discuss challenges related to accurate data compilation while following cultural protocols and current Colorado statistics.
