Sharon Villanueva works for the County Sheriffs of Colorado as the Project Manager for the Colorado VINE Program. She came to this role after 11 years as an Assistant Executive Director for the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police. As Project Manager since 2011, Sharon has been successful in not only bringing the majority of the state’s counties onto VINE, but also in making awareness about victim notification a high priority for Colorado. She accomplished this with the help of a strong statewide VINE Governance Committee that was successful in 2013 passing a house bill to secure long-term funding for Colorado VINE, as well as focused marketing efforts to increase public awareness of the program. Sharon continues to engage law enforcement facilities, district attorneys’ offices, and victim service providers with frequent trainings, and she maintains the visibility of the Colorado VINE Program at victim services conferences and events throughout the state.
